Chapter 4

In my intro to PR class taught by Professor  Nixon we discussed a view things out of Chapter 4 in the book, Public Relations Strategies and Tactics. The following information is what I attained from the two.

  • There are several different names for corporate PR departments:

          -Corporate relations

          -Marketing and corporate affairs

          -Investor relations

          -Public Affairs

          -External Affairs

    There are a few friction areas in PR:

         – Legal

         – Human Resources (Deal with hiring and firing and pay)

          -Advertising

    Outsourcing PR

       – Writing and communication

       – Media relations

       – Publicity

       – Strategy and planning

       -Event planning

    Public Relations firms do the following:

         – Marketing communication

         – Executive speech training

         – Research and evaluation

         – Media analysis           

         – Communication Relations

  • This is just a brief summary of what I learned from Chapter Four
